I have a three month working tourist visa for Australia- if that expires and Im still in the country what happens? Will there be any problems when I try nad leave the country or indeed when I re-enter Ireland? Would I ahve any difficulty if I tried to go back to Australia a little down the line?

Just get on a plane to NZ and come back ... no worries
or if you have enough time contact the Oz immigration board, and see about an extension (will be granted if applied for in enough time)

if you are leaving the country then prob no problems, but if you wanted to come back they may refuse, depending on the length of stay

yeah,u can apply for an extension easily enough.
You just have to prove that you have sufficient funds to finance your holiday as they dont want you undertaking any work which wouldnt be allowed on your 3 month visa

Not sure about Australia but most countries in the world where you need a Visa to enter will check your passport and remove the Visa upon exit. If you have over-stayed your Visa expiry date then you have violated their immigration laws. I know in the United States you can get banned from the country for x number of years. A friend of mine came to visit me in America and stayed for 5 months. I told him that he should just go home after 3 and come back if he wants. Or when he was leaving to go into Mexico and fly from there. But he didn't listen and attempted to fly from LA. He was arrested and detained for a few hours and eventually let go with a 6 year ban from the United States.

Some South and Central American countries can be really strict too but thank fook you can bribe them quite easily. But i can't imagine slipping someone a 20 will work in Oz.

Make sure you contact someone about an extension before it expires. Better safe than sorry.
