Hi all I am looking for some software that will let me use voice to text chat.
I am in a fas course in Limerick and one of my co students is Hearing impaired and the trainer uses Power Point to do presentations. As he is going through the slides he often goes into more detail but my friend misses out on this. I was wondering is there any programs that I could use so that the trainers spoken notes could be used over a messenger service as this is fas a freeware would be the best option thanks

Could he record and play back later ?
or use other peoples notes, you do take notes don't you ;)

First of all it probably isn't going to work.

Even if the trainer is prepared to spend some time on the software to train it to recognise their voice, you still have the problem of background noise. If the course is of a technical nature jargon will be a problem.

As thesay "it's hard to wreck a nice beach"

The Microsoft SRE for Windows XP is available in Office XP applications, such as Microsoft Word 2002, or Microsoft Excel 2002. If you have Office XP, or one of these programs on your computer, then you probably already have access to the SRE. You simply need to install the SRE as explained below.

The SRE is provided for free as part of the Microsoft Speech Software Development Kit 5.1. Microsoft provides no technical support for this software and it is not generally recommended for end users.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/speech2text/ - just gone alpha so a long way to go
