What is the best contraceptive pill at the moment?

    Anyone heard of Yasmin?

Hi there, it depends what you mean my 'best'. All the combined pills (the ones with 2 hormones in them, which is most of the pills for sale here) are very very effective. Yasmin is a new version of the combined pill which is said to maybe cause less weight gain and raised blood pressure as it is closer to the natural hormones in your body. As for safety, the 2nd generation pills are thought to be safer than the 3rd generation pills but again there is conflicting reports on this.

What is the best contracptive pill depends on the woman, for some it is none at all , for other it varies due to the make up of the pill it's sef.

im on yasmin.....and it is great for me. But like the previous person said, every pill is different in every woman! I had terrible side effects to microgynon

It is entirely subjective. You'd need to try the pill to see if it works for you. You might have to try a few different ones before you find one that has the least side effects.

How should we know? You didn't mention which board you were banned from, or what exactly you said. The moderators here only look after the medical boards.

Post the entire post you posted and let us see if there's anything in there that might have gotten you banned

This forum is moderated by medical doctors so we tend to have a lower threshold for banning/closing threads. Moderators have different styles and certain moderators are very uncomfortable with medical topics going AWOL on their forums. We're more tolerant because we know precisely when they go AWOL.

I'd been taking yasmin for four years and my college doctor took me off of it???!!! She said there was evidence to suggest that it may have a higher risk of causing blood clots. No other doctor/pharmacist seems to have heard this. She put me on Ovranette but my skin is in bits with it. Yasmin agreed much better with me. Maybe I should change back to yasmin. Has anyone heard that thing about it being dangerous? As far as I know ALL pills run a small risk of blood clotting but it is very rare. I don't smoke and am not over weight yet this new doctor took me off of it saying she thinks it's too risky?!

Thw new pill and the manky spots it's giving me is driving me nuts!!

the legal forum also has a lower threshold for bans

was told in the legal forum that if they allowed legal opinions to be handed out willy nilly , they would be sued

imagine the scenario , judge i thought it was ok to drive without insurance because mr potatoe head on BOARDS said it was ok

    complete crap of course

personally i think this medical forum has the same reasons for having a low threshold on bans as the lawyers do

neither doctors or lawyers want free advice being handed out

Ovranette fcuked me up. Ended up anaemic and pretty depressed on it at 15. Changed to Yasmin after a D&C and it works a dream for me. No way of knowing whats going to suit you until you try unfortunately OP.

I've tried yasmin, ovranette, dianette, noriday and one other that i can't remember the name of. All of these caused me a lot of trouble. I'm now on an injection 'depo vera' which is also causing trouble! They work great for some people though. The way you to find out if they suit is to try them.
