Hi guys, new enought to motorbikes and things 2 stroke, (though i am a truck mechanic)
Have had the cr for about 4 months and it normally starts no bother, but it wont really tick over and i have been told by a few people that this is normal.
Recently it wont start until i take the plug out and give it a good roasting on the gas cooker (the ma loves this!)
Cant seem to find anything about this on the forum but i could just be a little slow! Had a goo else where and seen some articles on us forums about plugs causing trouble. Does anyone know what plug should be in the bike. Think it is around 99 era. Doesnt get competion use, just up n down the bog mostly.
Running the mix at 35:1, this ok? semi synthetic oil too. Plus in anyone can tell me how many turns the screw on the side of the carb should be from fully in. Plug looks wet, overfueling? Compression is good
Thanks in advance for your help and replies

I don't know the CR250 but check the handbook. The plug seems to be fouled with either fuel or Oil. 35:1 seems to be about right for a CR250 but check the handbook. I'd also check for spark on the plug and the carb might need cleaning. Couldn't tell you how to set it up though. This tends to be trial and error.

Hmm, Never heard of that one before, just get yourself a new plug and save all that hassle. Most 2stroke crosses will work well with a BR9xx in the Irish climate. (where the xx is often EG, ES or something else, but doesnt really matter.

35:1 is grand, when I had a 2smoker last yr, I use to run with 40:1 with the best fully synthetic oil i could get, but it was a 125 and I revved the nuts off it racing the whole time. I cant exactly remeber what the screws are set at, I think it's about 2 1/2 to 3 turns out. I wouldnt worry about the plug looking wet, you've probably flooded it from all the kicking.

When you get it going again, do a proper plug test, which basically involves riding the bike with the throttle wide opened, then shut the throttle and leave it shut, pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch. When you come to a stop check the plug, it should be dry and brown.
