    Hey Folks,

Sometime in July I want to pop across from Prague to Frankfurt for a few days to see someone. What's the best (reasonably cheap!) way of going about this? I had a look at flights but they seem horrendously expensive and I can't seem to book an advance journey with the german national train company.

    Anyone any idea's?

    Hey eo980.

Its not the easiers journey to make by train as it not really direct. Got a price of €29 each way for ya tho but you have to use something called 'plan und spar' - plan and save in english. Just means that you have to book you travel with DBahn at least 5 days in advance and pick the exact trains you will take. Its easy really. Think about the train is that it take 14 hours!!!!!

    Praha hl.n. Fr, 11.07.08 ab 20:25 10:29 0 CNL
    ab 119,00 EUR (inkl. Res.)
Verfügbarkeit prüfen ab 29,00 EUR (inkl. Res.)

Basically what i would advise doing is taking the night train and get yourself a sleeper. Doesnt cost much more. Think the website is nachtzug.de/

If you want to save yourself even more, it probably works out cheaper to get a train with the czech train company to berlin and then get DBahn from there.

If you really wanna go cheap, Eurolines might be a cheaper option - touring.de

It's around 7 hours with one change if you go from prague through dresden to frankfurt on ICE.

if you enter fürth i wald as one of your "via" stations, then the journey cost comes out at 107 euro return if you get all the discounts and book in advance. (Its still too soon to book for July, for internation I think its 90 days)

You could reduce the price to about 80 return if you were prepared to combine various cheapo tickets ie. buy czech tickets in czech rep. and then look for spar deal in Germany, or lever the best out of regional ticket deals.
