Correct Pedal Line-up

    Hello all

    I have a Fender Telecaster, running through 5 pedals, (well, almost 5, my new Real Clyde McCoy Picture WAH by Geoffrey Teese arrives today!!) into a Fender Blues Junior, which I gig! I used to go Tele -> BOSS Volume -> BOSS Delay -> BOSS Chorus -> Fulltone FD-2 MOSFET -> Blue Junior Amp!! But I found that when I put the Volume at the end of the line, that its effectiveness improved greatly! So, in light of the fact that I will be getting my WAH today, what do you think is the best line up for my pedals!!

    Thanks Much
    Edja

    The best order is the one that sounds best and works best for you. Mixing up the order will give different sounds and different functionality for the various pedals.

    But, personally, I would probably go Wah->FD-2->Chorus->Delay->Volume

    Good question, it's really a "how long is a piece of string" type thing though. It takes a bit of trial and error, try think of it like a production line of cake to which you add your toppings in a particular order.

    Do you delay the chorus or put chorus on the delay?
    Chicken or egg, take your pick.

    There's also the effects loop on most amps if you're that way inclined.

    Thanks lads, will try a few things, just wanted to get an idea of what other people thought, or whether it was anything to do with signals and the like, of which I am of the clueless species...
    thanks again!

    You could try the delay and reverbs thru the amp effects loop but tbh there's no real quick and easy guide because each combination will yield a different result. Have a play around!

    theres no effects loop on the blues junior

    so i'd go with what VC suggested

    I'd maybe consider trying the overdrive last in the chain, seeing as its supposed to interact directly with the input stage of the amp. I don't know whether it will make a difference in your case, but I think you're trying to overdrive the amp and not the other pedals. Otherwise, let your ears be your guide.

    Distortion or overdrive after Wah tends to sound much fatter and thicker than the reverse. Try it both ways and see.

    Distortion or overdrive after reverb or delay will compress the effect decay and exaggerate the effect. It happens a bit in the amp anyway. It's all down to what you're looking for.

    If you're using the volume pedal for a boost, then putting it at the end makes sense in terms of overdriving the amp.

    My first thought would be to try
    Chorus->Wah->FD-2->Delay->Volume or
    Wah->Chorus->FD-2->Delay->Volume

    chorus before distortion though (it sounds sweet)
