Ok, I moved in to a nice house recently. However, it has been lying empty since last summer and has a bit of a damp/musty type smell.
Will plenty of heat and fresh air get rid of this??
Ps most of the floors are carpet covered..

More than likely, but if the carpets are dirty/smelly, it may not.

If it has double glazing, check that there is adequate ventilation in the room. Are there any signs of damp on the walls? Black mould in the corners? There should be both vents in the window frames (double glazing) and possibly vents and air bricks in the walls. Make sure they are not covered.
