Playstation Eye from Play-Asia

have been looking for the Eye for ages and cant find it in shops so i'm looking at Play-Asia.com. i know games are not region specific on the PS3 but is the hardware region free as well?

EDIT: I know it's probably cheaper elsewhere but at least you could buy it today on Amazon...only 3 in stock though!
