Ever get bored with your job?

How common is it? I am one of the "working at jobs I dont care about because I don't know what I want to do" crowd, and I'm starting to get pretty fed up where I am at the minute.

I'm in an office doing data entry and price calculations. It's good in a way in that I'm left to my own devices, no stress/pressure, everyone gets along really well and it's 10 minutes from home. But I'm here 16 months now and pretty much hate getting up in the morning. Just have no interest whatsoever in the work. I (foolishly) took out a loan last year and have to wait til December to pay it off so I'm reluctant to leave in case the next job doesn't work out.

Surely I'm not the only one who gets bored? Do you just leave?

I'm in a similar position - my job is well paid, but not exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. Since i don't know exactly what I want to do, I decided to start an Open University course in the area I have most interest in. Its a few hours study a week but will hopefully open up more opportunities for me in the next few years, and worst case, if I decided not to persue it further, I haven't lost out because getting any extra qualification can only be a good thing.

How old are you? Are you qualified?

YES, YES, soooo YES! But I'm stuck 'cause I have no idea what I want to do, I'm not good at anything in particular and I have no skills. And I'm not doing anything related to what I studied in college as I hated it. Bummer!

Do you get bored with your job?

That's like asking how many of you breath air :D

Even rock stars get bored with their job. I read a book years ago about Guns N Roses and there was a story (how true it was I don't know) where one of Axl's minders had to turn away a groupie who was trying to get into Axl's hotel room.

When the young lady in question asked why she couldn't get in to see Axl the minder said "He has already had visits from SIX other girls tonight, he has had enough and want some peace & quiet"

Now, if Axl is bored with that type of ...ahem...work, then what chance do the rest of us drones stand of being happy in our occupation? :D

I'd like my job were it not for the people managing me / in charge of my development. Getting more annoyed as the days pass by. At this stage when the 2 year anniversary comes, I'm gone.
