I've heard of the TB cull as well, but I don't think it's in operation at the moment.

the agricultural officers from each local dept of agriculture veterinary office snare badgers for the protection of spreading bovine TB. they dont cull deer, this is most prob left up to the rangers. to be an agricultural officer you must actually be emplayed by the department of agriculture to do this job and also have the neccessary qualifications ie a degree in agriculture science etc to get one of those jobs as it also entails inspecting farms for reps and other dept of agriculture schemes

Any possibility his activities aren't legal ? As in he don't work for any Government Dept ?

I got offered the job of culling badgers about three years ago through the farm relief services. The details i got were the badgers would be trapped and then culled with a shotgun. Didnt take the job due to other commitments. But it obviously would have been above board. All you needed was a shotgun license and firearm.

ah god no, he was just a guy with a deer licence and had a .22 to dispatch badgers, no qualifications, no education, just picked up the job handy from a friend of a friend in the dept of agri i suppose. he was legit i saw all his licences and gear, he had to tag every animal and deliver it to collection areas also.
