Well everything looks sweet , just get a better ram and PSU :

AS for PSU go for Corsair / Seasonic/Tagan - well known and reliable brands...

alright mac, done a fair bit of research on this over the past few weeks, anyway your spec seems good - personally i would go for these if i was you:

    Case:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=341841

    Psu
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=327671

    Thermal Paste:

    Cooling Fan:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=322416

Finally, this is the thing to go for if you have been running well~

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=345129

Oh and komplett is very expensive - try www.scan.co.uk, www.overclockers.co.uk and www.dabs.ie instead

me run good lol..... although Jans RB is paying for it ;)

is the Corsair 520 good enough?

yeah I plan to shop around for the best deals once I decide on the spec...

    thanks for the help...

yea the corsair would easily be good enough for a single 8800gt card and quad core processor - i suppose if you have the money you may as well get the:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=327672

might come in handy if you decide to upgrade at some stage in the future

looks like your sticking with xp? - doing the same myself, too many horror stories about vista tbh, think ill wait for the new os microsoft bring out
In regard to the graphic card, you will be able to play nearly every game out at the minute at medium-high settings, however it might not be the best card if you badly want to get crysis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭Macspower

yeah sticking to XP for a few reasons... main one is I have XP already on disc ... and I still think Vista has enough holes to park a fleet of busses in.... Also in the business were in I know all the software and AHK scripts work on XP and some still have issues with vista so XP it is for now...

I saw your previous thread on the build ... have you abandoned it? I've been messing around with Komplett's Intel gamer and introduced my specs into it and it's also coming out very reasonable so might be talked out of this..... but I wouldn't enjoy the challenge then ;)

yea i abondoned my build for a few reasons, the main one is that i have windows xp and have loads of software on the pc which i 'cough' acquired lol which i could not get onto the new pc - the other reason is that i realised there is barely any decent pc games available that are not being released for my xbox360, so it would be a bit of a pointless upgrade tbh

I wouldn't pay 280 for an 8800GT when Dabs.ie have the superior 8800GTS for 258. Komplett are crap lately for prices, particularly in graphics cards.

Also, better quality ram ideally - decent ram is so cheap these days no point going for the cheapest stuff possible just to save a few euro when you're spending so much overall.

Look at this for example - 2gb of decent stuff for an entire 2 extra euro...

    thanks Terror... Looks much better....

Awesome build by the way, all top top quality components, will rip through those games/video work

Shipping is €40, they dont accept credit cards, have to go the bank and get money transfer

    No biggie imo

yeah looks like I'm nearly set....

one last donk question.... I have wireless broadband but where the PC is intended for is not near the router so cable connection is not possible... What do I need to add to let it get wireless?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,044 ✭✭✭Sqaull20

You will need a Wireless Card/Usb Adapter

anyone buy off this crowd? Seem very reasonable as well?

    thanks

Dont forget hardwareversand do not take a credit card. You have to do a bank transfer.

    Cant compare with Hardwareversand/Komplett builds...

They have low quality ram, motherboards, power supply and case....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭Macspower

Ok I've decided on the hardwareversand.de build..

Anyone who has dealt with them might answer a few questions?

    1) how long approx from order to delivery for a build?

    2) regarding payment.. I have no problem with the bank transfer... Do I have to transfer from my bank account or can I walk inot a bank and pay over the counter?

    thanks again for the help

    hi guys,

new machine arrived today from Hardwareversand.de send money on tuesday last week and they got money on monday I have PC on thursday via DHL... cant complain with that...

    Ok Initial observations....

everything is there... all extra cables/manuals/discs etc etc

I notice a worrying rattle when I take the PC from it's box.... On further inspection I see my graphics card is loose inside the case... I open and sure enough it's sitting on the botom of the case unplugged from mother board and has been rattling around by the looks of the scratches... I plugged it back in and discovered the problem ... the 2 screws that were holding it were loose int he case but when i tried to put them back they were too small for the holes and wouldn't tighten... I've replaced with bigger one...

    hopefully all will be ok......

Secondly I notice my wireless card is in the box but not installed.... it is now.... not a big problem....

Wiring is very messy.... I will tidy at some stage when i get it all up and running..

    report more later

I woulda sent it right back to them if i were you. Something could be damaged.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

Yea, I'd be sending it straight back wether it's working or not and make a note of the serial numbers on the parts so they don't try sending you the same stuff again. It may work now, but bouncing around (particularly the gfx card) may have some problems further along the line.

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

Delivery is around 2 weeks from Hardwareversand (Im not sure how long the build options adds?)

You have to lodge money into their account so im sure, you could pay with cash in the bank and just follow the instructions HWV have on their site

And the Hitachi Deskstar T7k500 is faster than that Seagate in most cases and its quiet too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭Macspower

I decided to give it a try. I mailed them pics above and explained that if I had problems I would send it back...

So I plugged back in the graphics card and all seems well.... A few other small problems like the front usbs and headphone sockets weren\t working but on examination I found them not connected to main board but a little patience and they are working now...

I tidied up the cables a bit as well and all look good so far... spent the day installing OS and drivers for just about everything....

core temps running at 30oC on idle going to 40oC underload but not major just a game of C+C. Is this normal?

also dont buy stupid german keyboard!

but really cant argue with the price... so far happyish

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,824 ✭✭✭RoyalMarine

those temps dont look too bad really.
only hitting 40oC under load is good.

as for the build quality, its absolute crap.
i would also have said in the e-mail you wanted a fully built computer which is what you paid for. but it was only half built.

id look for a refund for the building part of the pc.

next time, just order the parts :) and build yourself. its so easy to do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 93 ✭✭Toolbag

Yup, I was contemplating ordering a pre-built PC from these guys a few months back, but when I asked them about how the system secured during shipping they were unclear with their response. It's clear now that the components can and do take a bashing in transit.

As mentioned before the best bet is get the components in their boxes and build it yourself. Or quickly inspect the PC before signing for delivery, if it arrives like yours, reject the delivery and have it sent back for a refund.

QFT! However, I'm sure Mr DHL (or whoever is delivering) would be delighted to have to wait for you to do that when he just wants a signature :D Fup him though, it's not out of order to want to inspect your goods before taking delivery.
