Can anyone help me out here, about a month or 2 ago I noticed the sound was gone on my RTE 1,2 and TV 3 every other channel was grand,I tried loads of time re-tuning each one in but it just kept picking them up with no sound but perfect clear picture so the other day I went to fix it by re-tuning the whole lot thinking that this should get them back but it only ended up taking the sound from all the channels leaving just the picture,I've tried again and again re-tuning but it doesn't fix it.
All connection from the TV to the outlet in the wall are ok,anyone got any ideas what's going on ?

If it's a fairly modern TV it probably has different settings for the sound specs for different countries.
Do you have the model number handy?

Thanks Taxman for the quick reply appreciate it ;) It's a Samsung tv/video TV model no is TI 15X5,it's about 2 years old.
It's not the main tv I have it connected to a point in the bedroom, all cables and splitter it's fed from are new too as I had NTL out in July putting in new connections and cables so it can't be that and it's been working grand up to a month ago.

That's strange was just looking at Samsung manuals online. If the set can handle audio from other countries you should have a choice of BG-DK-I-L.
You need to have "I" selected. I'll have a look and see what info they have.
Seems what what I can see from another Samsung set that you should be able to set the audio from within the "Manual store" option.

Forget the above co19,just looking at your manual and it's nothing like the sets out now. Still looking at manual.

When I go into manual tune the only things that come up are :

    Current programm no:
    New programme no:
    Search:
    Frequency:
    AFT:On/Off
    System:Auto/Pal/Secam

I've tried changing the AFT to on and off, changing the system from auto to pal still doesn't do anything, tizz a mystery.

Yeah weird one alright. It seems it's a single standard set according to the blurb on the Samsung site PAL I. No options via TV to change anything like that. You could try inputting channel freqs manually just in case the auto tune is slightly off. eg 176mhz net2 184 tv3 192 rte1 etc...
    Try that and post results.

Also is there any sound from the vcr side of things?

Nah still no joy,all frequencies are correct, what the hell can it be,the picture is perfect so it has to be something minor but for it to just go off after an auto tune is what has me baffled.

No I can't get channels on the AV channel it only uses this when playing a video.

Sounds like it developed a fault. As you said it had lost sound on a few channels already. Whatever the fault by starting an auto-tune has now affected all frequencies. What about things connected via scart any sound from them.

I brought it downstairs and connected it up to the cable down there and works grand,I find it hard to see that it's the cable as it hasn't been touched since it was replaced as I said the cable and the connection box in the room are new.
