Accommodation in Singapore

Not the most likely of holiday destinations I know, but I'm taking my wife and baby son there later this year. My wife's from there and we all used to live there, but I'm damned if I'm spending two weeks in my mother-in-law's house.

So, trying hard to remember hotels, but all I can remember are hotels in the city. We want something quiet and tranquil. After all, it's costing an arm and a leg to get there, not to mention spending money. I don't fancy spending a fortnight in Singapore's CBD. I know there's Sentosa, but it's a pain in the arse to get to and from, plus it's expensive.

Does anyone know Singapore enough to recommend a nice, quiet place to stay for two weeks? Preferably in the North.

    Thanks! :)

Best of luck. Singapore seems to have endless "Conferences" that eat up all the reasonable hotel rooms.

I got stuck there for a week, ended up in a "suite" (nothing else available...)

Anyone that can suggest reliable decent budget accommodation would be a star.

PS if your Better Half is from there, surely she can sort this?

That's right. In fact, we both used to live in Singapore. But like I said, aside from staying with family we can't remember anything other than expensive, business type hotels. I'm considering Pulau Ubin which would definitely be relaxing, but don't fancy the 20 minute ferry journey each way, every day (plus limited crossing times).

    Hi,
you can try here, all locations & all budgets. Be aware, I'm sure you already are, it is now Chinese New Year in Singapore so some shops / amenities may have limited operating hours & hotels may be more expensive.

btw who are you flying with? we recently flew thru Abu Dhabi with Etihad, we got best price as compared to all other airline, service was great & pleasing to the eye also. You can try ringing their Singapore office, it was cheaper than the same flights booked thru their website.

    g'd luck
