    Hi guys,

Hope this is the right forum to post this....

I'm sick of a my current kitchen table cramping my already limited kitchen/living room. Can anyine recommend somewhere that sells stylish SPACE-SAVING tables? The ideal table would be nice-looking and perfect for 2 people on a daily basis, but have a fold-out (or extension) for when I have friends round for dinner.

    Any advice much appreciated

    Thanks

A friend just moved into his apartment. Habitat and Bargaintown both had double-leaf tables that can seat 4-6, but fold down to about 1.50 x 0.50m.

Had one similar to this which I got in Ikea when I lived in Germany. I'm afraid it'll mean a trip to Belfast to get it though, assuming you can't wait the 15 years it's likely to take for the M50 upgrade to be complete so IKEA can open in Dublin!

Top tip. Make sure the leg has a clip to keep it in place when the table is in use. Otherwise (and I speak from experiance!) an accidental kick to the leg can result in broken knee caps and a very messy kitchen! :o

I have used space saving components a few time and they can work really well depending on the person. The main things is have some room for clutter.

Either be really tidy or have an off set area for mess.

Habitat do them alright. Be aware though that Habitat in Dublin is a franchise and seems to sell some Ikea stuff at inflated prices. (ikea owns habitat)

My Mum has one she got in Argos years ago, double drop leaf and four fold up chairs that can be stored inside the table. Hers is black veneer, but they also came in different wood finishes. I checked out the Argos website for you, but they have very little dining furniture on the site, but AFAIK they still stock them.

I EVEN got up off the sofa to look in the Argos catalogue, but that is also gone missing! (Is it an Argos conspiracy?!)

Its a dinky little table, you can just have one leaf up, with two chairs, while the other two are stored away and when both leaves are up, you would get six chairs round it.

Had a similar problem but got a gorgous round table (with side wings up) when the side wings are down table is small rectangle.

Only snag I got it here in the west.. Keep an eye out for one in the regular furniture shops not the big chain stores..

    good luck
