Ken's off to a good start winning his first two matches in the round robin. He might do well here after his good run in the masters. In fairness he needs some good rusults as his top 16 place is in danger for next season. I think he is currently provisionally no. 16

Are there any ranking points available in Malta this year though?

Yep, there's no ranking points as it's an invitational tourney and not open.

The only Ranking Tournaments left this season are the Welsh Open (Next week), China Open & obviously The World Championship.

    Rankings Points Schedule

Didn't realise this. I thought that the event in Malta was always a ranking event. Typical, Ken will probably do well here as he did in the masters (two non-ranking events) and loose in the first round in Wales!

Yeh it has been a ranking tournment until this year. This year they opted for the invitational approach. The round robin format is also new to Malta. Not a big fan of it though.

The idea behind it is that some of the maltese players will get automatic wild card entry into the tournament, like Tony Drago & Alex Borg

If it was a ranking tournament they wouldn't.

    Thanks for that link.
Ken has a good chance of making the semi.

I do threads on the Top-16 now and again for UK8ball and Doc's place is in *real doubt. My estimate is that he needs to win a total of 6 matches in the three ranking events left to retain it, or be close to doing so.

Ken into the semis after hammering Robertson. He's really gone off the rails. Pity for Ken that he's only performing in the non-ranking events so far this year. Good to see him in good form though

How many matches does he need to win, to win the World Championship? :D

to win at the crucible he needs to win 5 matches and a total of 70 frames I think.

Second session just started here, 5-2 down but he is brilliant at comebacks. The quality for the live streaming is very good. Don't think its on eurosport till 7. Will get live audio as well when ist on eurosport

He never got going really. He won the first frame with a 91 break but that was it. From then on he had plenty of chances in all the early frames but broke down on unforced misses. Still, if he can keep his earlier form in good shape for Wales you just never know...

Match fixing in Malta, so that is why Ken got to the final...Sorry...that was cruel!
