M Night shylamananenenenananan's (hereforth known as Shy) new film has had its teaser trailer released. Looks, er, weird. People randomly committing suicide for no reason. I dont know what to anticipate with this flick.

Shy started his career at a high and has been tumbling since. 6th Sense ** and Unbreakable were great (IMO) but the rest was meh.

As someone who is fairly open to even the maddest sci fi plots this one just looks weird.

Also the teaser poster has a fiat punto in it. Lets hope the film is better than the car.

    Any opinions?

** not to be confused with famous boardsie of the same name

Well as a fan of pretty much anything from the post-apocalyptic genre, I'm looking forward to it. I'm not mad about Shyamamamamalam's films though.

Looks fascinating, haven't seen his last one yet (Lady In The Water) i do generally like his films though.

Yeah, i'm a huge M Night Shyamalan fan (OK.. not 'Lady In The Water' which was absolutely cack of the highest degree).

But I enjoy all his other films - 'The Sixth Sense', 'Unbreakable', 'Signs' and 'The Village' were all fantastic. 4 very different films.. though I think the twist ending is something he needs to lose. Not all movies need a twist!

But I do think he is an accomplished film-maker. I had no idea he was making 'The Happening' until I saw an ad for it in this month's Empire Magazine.

Trailer looks great, hopefully a return for the pre-'Lady In The Water' Shyamalan.

    Looking forward to it.

Sixth Sense: Great film, the twist at the end caught me completely off guard.

Unbreakable: Also great. I'm willing to bet had it been released before sixth Sense it would have drawn more plaudits and not been criticaly mauled.

    Signs: Genuinely creepy but
why would aliens whose weakness is water invade a planet that is 80% water?

    The Village: Terrible film
They live in the present... You call that a fcucking twist? It was so obvious!

Lady in The Water: avoided like the rotting carcass it was.

By my estimation (feel free to disagree as you see fit) Shy has been on a bit of a slippery slope as of late. Although i do like Mark Wahlberg so i'll probably give it a look.

    WHAT A TWIST!!

The problem with this film is that everyone will be looking for the twist, but as long as he doesn't make it like "The Village" (ie "knee in the balls" obvious) or like "Lady in The Water" (ie just a crap film in general) it should be good.

Oh wait, we don't have that anymore :(

I would agree with most people about his movies. Downward spiral so far. Lady in the Water was terrible and the The Village was obvious from the start.

As someone else said, he doesn't need to have a twist at the end of each movie.
