NOTE, this has nothing to do with any concert promoter/organizing companies in this country and is not meant to be a controversial thread.

Generally are people allowed to bring cameras into concerts? Im going to Clapton in a few months, and am wondering if security will demand i leave the camera outside, which will be impossible as I will be getting a bus to the gig!

Id rather just leave it at home if there's a chance of that.

Any concert I have gone to there was no security checks (not to say you can bring in the 500mm lens and Dslr too :))

if it's a compact/p&s generally they let them in, I have heard of cases where it has been stated by the promoter that no camera's are allowed and in those cases they'll take the camera put a sticker on it and you'll get it back at the end of the show.

Anything that looks professional I'd guess is a no no. but some one else might be able to answer that that. Check out the promoter's site about rules for the gig in question.

Point and shoot you should be fine, any type of SLR is considered a pro camera and won't be allowed in. Where is the gig? If it's outdoors there most likely will be checks, plus it's Clapton so it's pretty high profile.

What happened to me at an outdoor gig was they took the battery which I got back after so if you're adament, might be worth taking a second battery in your sock or something.

for get the camera altogether IT'S CLAPTON go and enjoy the music. Just listening to Layla on the radio behind me and I don't think I'd want a camera at that gig

For the quailty of shot you're going to get from the crowd, you're best just leaving the camera at home, and properly enjoying the gig.

    I would agree with that..
