was it la nina that caused the jet stream to move giving us that rotten summer?

How does la nina affect Ireland throughout the seasons? More or less chance of snow in winter? What kind of influence will it have to our spring?
The latest forecasts of the El Niño - Southern Oscillation from international coupled climate models point to continued moderate La Niña conditions until the middle of 2008. Most models surveyed here suggest that the La Niña will persist at least to late in the southern autumn as it slowly weakens. Most models are producing very similar forecasts to those issued one month ago.

In winter it tends to lead to Mild Decembers and January followed by blocked Februaries and usually leads to a cold March and April.
