K750i won't connect to PC

I have an old K750i that I'm giving to my mother but I want to connect it to my PC first to take off a few texts and contacts, and put a ringtone or 2 on to it for her.

When I connect it to the USB port I get a different windows sound (instead of the usual one) it's 3 quick blings. And windows can't see the phone. The phone will charge from the USB but I can't do anything else with it.

I heard that it could be a firmware problem, where can I get an update for this and will it kill all the data on the phone?

is this the sound it makes?

as the name suggests, that's the noise windows makes when the hardware has failed. it might be faulty. look at the connectors at the bottom of the phone and see if they're corroded.

also, try it in a different computer. if its the same, i recommend you copy everything you want to keep to the memory card and put that in a card reader

and yes, a firmware update will erase all your data

    Have you installed the drivers?

Haven't got them yet. How can I put them on the phone when it won't connect?

you don't put the drivers on the phone. You put them on the pc. They're what tell the pc how to interact with the phone. They'll be on the cd that came with the phone or download the pc suite from here:

i don't think the phone makes that noise if the drivers aren't installed. I would think it makes the normal noise and then searches for drivers but i could be wrong
