Judo clubs?

Really enjoying the Judo I’ve been watching lately, doing a bit of BJJ at the moment and think studying something like judo would complement it great.

I know there’s a few clubs around the city centre, but a lot of these seem to be university/college based, I can only presume their only open to students of said colleges.

I hear there’s one around the Smithfield area, but I can’t find a contact number, and someone here said it was a junior club.

Can anyone recommend something or point me in the right direction.

    Cheers.
    Trev.

Aren't you doing BJJ in SBGn? You do know they have judo there right! When I was last there it was Norman Caprani coaching it and he was the Irish Olympic team coach for the Barcelona games. Don't know if it's still him doing it but there's a lot of good judo guys in SBGn, Andy and Julien off the top of my head.

I presumed they were only doing Judo for kids, as the only judo class listed on the site is a Monday kid’s class.

I’ll ask them myself next time I’m there so.

    Good stuff
    Cheers.

Nope, Unfortunately I’m the guy with no gi as of yet!
I’m only doing the Tuesday beginner class at the moment (on my second 6 week cycle, excellent class) When I finish that and sort out a gi, I’ll see if it’s ok to do the other more advance BJJ classes there as well.

The gym really is something else, savage training and sound blokes all-round.

Oh yeah, thanks for the Judo links, I’ll ring around a few of them and see what the story is.

Roper I could be wrong, but I don't think they're doing Judo at SBGn at the moment.

Trevor is you can make it out as far as Portmarnock it'll be really worth the effort.

Although alot will tell you its not really for the novice, the lads are brilliant. The training is tough with lots ot Randori, ie Judo as it should be.

Coolmine is more or less the same.

    Cheers for the link.

I mailed DCU, their open to taking in a few non-students, Only €4 per session!
I do have to join the Irish Judo Association for insurance purposes, but it seems to be the best option so far.

    Again, thanks for all advise.

we try our best same as every other club, always willing to take new members(of any or no experience) and not for bait for us, but as people to train and bring up to our level to improve the overall strength of the club...
