PS3 won't load PS2 games

My problem is exactly as it says in the title. In the game menu, it shows up that I have a PS2 disc inserted, but when I click on it, I just get a black screen. This only started happening last week. I'm using the 60G model, and I have tried installing version 2.1 to see could I fix it, but to no avail. I have my PS3 about 6 months, so the warantee is still good, but I'm kinda hoping I can fix this myself.

Any help would be welcomed. Thanks.

What PS2 game did you try playing?

Not all PS2 games are fully compatible. Have a look here to see if the game you have will actually work:

As I know there's someone here still waiting for Outrun to be compatible

Thanks for the reply mate, but it's not that. Like I said this only started happening lately. It's the same with all games. Even games I could use before.

Have you turned on the upscaling of PS2 games?
Check your video settings to ensure the 5xx and 720p modes are enabled.

Like I said, it was working before, but maybe I accidentally turned the upscaling off????

Where do I find that?

Not playin ps2 games on the 60gb?Wirey,i have 40gb so all my old games,tossed lol!

Anywho...., same thing happened mine.
I have it since 23rd March, and was happily playing away at Pro Evo 6 and GAA 2.

First I backed up all my game saves to USB, then completely reset the system. Reloaded update 2.0 (which was the latest at the time).

Worked for me.
