Anyone know how to find out who owns a PO Box number? I've received a pretty mysterious letter which has a return address of PO Box xxxx, Dublin 2 on it...

Anyone know who this is or how I could go about finding out?

I think PO boxes are meant to be completely anonymous.

You could try asking in the post office itself but yeah afaik they're supposed to be anonymous. I think you can just hire one and you (maybe) won't have to show ID.

Whats the letter about? Does it involve treasure?

Did you try googling it? It may have an associated website.

I think you may be onto a looser there unless the latter was threatening or abusive or something. Data protection and all that.

A poo-filled envelope usually does the trick

Googled the PO Box Number alright... nadda...

Basically it's a letter that arrived at my house in Dublin which is addressed to my mother's name prior to her divorce. Since she's never lived in this house and hasn't gone by that name in quite a while I'm just very curious as to what it is. I'm forwarding it on to her of course, just not good at waiting!

You'll have to play the Monopoly Man, if ya win he'll give you a lift in his shoe to Kimmage.

Post yourself back to the address... If the envelope is to small & your feeling flush, fit it with a tracking device..

Open the letter and see who it's from?? Remember to steam it carefully though....:p

Seriously though, An Post will not give out that information. Unless you have a complaint about the content of the letter and even then their own internal Investigation Branch will deal with the matter.

Won't your mother just find out when she opens it herself? If it's any of your business, surely she'll tell you who it's from?

have you never read/seen crime stories? post some meaningless letter/brochure to the post box, then sit in the conveniently positioned cafe opposite or in your car watching at a safe distance til you see someone approach who will be acting really suspicously and probably wearing a 3 quarter length jacket. then follow him to his house and ring your friend in the force to so a background check on him.
obviously your friend will be reluctant at first but you need to remind him about some deed he owes you for etc etc. should work out perfectly :-)

Wright a letter with the return address of PO Box xxxx on it and follow the post man.

Just open in then give it to her and say you didnt even check the name when the post arrived??? either that or the letter bomb option

Put a GPS tracker in a box and send it to them.
