Due to higher oil prices, UK downturn, higher costs at unchecked monopoly airports, weakness of Sterling, lower consumer demand caused by fears of recession.

Obviously nothing to do with treating customers like S**te, increasing prices, hidden costs etc. etc...

i always avoid ryanair as much as possible and would gladly pay extra just to fly with other airlines because of their underhand & sneaky tactics. i hope the main reason for the decline in profits is due to travellers refusing to put up with Ryanair and people opting to fly with other airlines instead.

I heard that currently his fuel is hedged at $60 a barrel but that it runs out in April. What's the current price of a barrel of fuel, near €90? could be shakey times ahead for Ryanair

well I have stopped flying with them since having to pay to check in, how the hell am I going to check in online if I am away, I am sick of them. I wish they would just put up the fares.

I've looked into booking three different filghts in the coming months, all destinations are serviced by Aerlingus and Ryanair, Aerlingus have been cheaper for every filght. Once all the check-in and baggage charges are added to Ryanair they are no longer competitive like the were a year ago.

I think these fees will end up costing Ryanair a lot of passangers.

I'm another one who will avoid ryanair if at all possible. If I do have to fly them, I will expect delays, bad service and a horrible experience. I now also expect to pay more than other airlines once all the additional costs are included. Ryanair are certainly not the cheap airline they once were. The budget title is reserved to service standards only

I used Ryanair recently to head over to England. They were pretty cheap and i was only over for a day and a half could walk on with my luggage.
Little did i know that the cost of luggage was so dear when i booked a flight to aberdeen last week. €26 for baggae return  ....and if i was required to take 2 bags it would be €62 return :eek:. this on top of €8 credit card booking...these costs add up and are very offputting.

    me + 1

Stopped using them as much as possible. The only time I ever use them now is going over to Liverpool to see Everton play. Ryanair are the only ones that service the Dublin to Liverpool route. Its only 20 mins flying anyway, so I don't mind too much.

Went to Sweden in November. SAS was 200 euro. Ryanair was 120. I went with SAS. A lot more pleasant experience.

If they really are down in turnover it explains why they started adding on all these new charges which seem to be increasing all the time.

+1. I'll pay more to avoid flying Ryanair. I wonder if the downturn in profits is due to how unpleasant they are to travel with. I hope so, it might make them sit up and have a look at their hidden fees and customer service.

They are meant to be upping the charges until it is high enough so people will be forced to bring only carry on bags.

Yeah. They are making a nice bit of cash by carrying cargo instead...

That's all any of us are to them...;)

    +1.

Their sneaky charges is bad enough, but the rudeness of their staff is the main reason why I will happily pay more to any other airline, rather than fly with Ryanair. Hell, I'd sooner get the bus to England rather than go with money sucking cheap and nasty Ryanair.

I shop in Tesco but I don't buy Tesco Value bread. Why should flying be any different?
