The official word since Saturday evening has been fractured wrist and out for the season...

He has been playing utter pish since this time last year...

I think 3 or 4 weeks on a beach [or some other holiday getting away from it all], getting away from rugby totally, to recharge his batteries is just what he needs tbh..

Also assuming Dr Phil moves to 12 while he is out, it is a great opportunity for J Sexton to get some serious game time under his belt, when he returns from injury himself.

Im a bit of a sexton fan tbh so I hope he gets some serious magners league game time as a result of this.

Every cloud has a silver lining, both for Ireland & Leinster.

It's not as if Tipoki or Mafi can slot into the team. If anything this illustrates what a mess Irish Rugby is in. It's a pity Lewis and Murphy didn't head up to Ulster than they might be able to slot in.

Sad to hear. I know he has had a bad season but I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Was near the tunnel on Sat and the guy looked in bits coming off.

You could be right with regards to time away from the game, could be good to re-focus the mind

It might mean picking players in their proper positions, Switching BOD to 12, and Trimble to 13 makes sense.

We could also go the next step, and play wingers on the wing!

    11 - Kearney
    12 - BOD
    13 - Trimble
    14 - Bowe
    15 - Murphy

I woud love to see that backline get a go on Saturday, I am a big fan of Dempsey but I feel that Murphy needs to start fullback given how poor the backs have been recently, it is worth a risk at this stage to try to provide a spark for the backs. Just one converted linebreak in Paris could make a huge impact on the confidence of the team.

I really fear we will actually see something like following:

    11 - Trimble
    12 - Horgan
    13 - BOD
    14 - Murphy
    15 - Dempsey

unfortunately that is all too likely

    id go for:

    11-Kearney
    12-Trimble
    13-BOD
    14-Horgan
    15-Dempsey

Some time away from the game may not be the worst thing to happen to Darce. Here's hoping he comes back more like he was four years ago.

As for what to do: has to be Trimble in the centre. Thought he did really well on Saturday. On the wings, any two from Horgan (of fit) Kearney, Bowe and Murphy.

There ain't no way he's going to drop Dempsey unless he loses a leg in a pothole so no point wishing for it.

Swap the centres around. Trimble not big enough for the inside and has the speed for the outside.

Will Horgan be back in action next week?

EOS seems pretty excited about his poor enough showing the A game last Friday, so I would put money on him being in the squad at least.

I'd ditch Trimble altogether. He has absolutely no rugby brain. I'd almost prefer Paddy Wallace at 12 with Drico at13.

Correct me if im wrong but was it not Trimble who beat one player sucked in the FB and popped the ball to Dempsey for our only try?? yeah.....

Paddy Wallace cant handle international stage at all and he hasnt played at centre for a long while.

Drico is loosing gas in my view but is showing more skills as a IC then a OC so id have it

    12.O'Driscoll
    13.Trimble

the smart solution is paddy wallaxe at 12 or trimble at 12,why would you bother playing bod out of position, both of the players i named can play 12 no problem,we just have to hope its not horgan

Trimble doesn't have the hands for 12 and I wouldn't want an O'Gara - Wallace midfield, it'd be a defensive nightmare. There's a school of thought that says 12 would suit BOD better at this stage of his career.

To be honest, he is probably the best 12 and the best 13, so it's a question of which combination works best, and to my mind that is 12. BOD 13. Trimble.

wallace is a **** out half but an ok 12 with good hands, smart money goes on him imo

He also went inside completely cutting off reddan and ending the move which if he had gone inside would have set up a try. I think he could be a good player later on but is still a bit immature.

Did you see the amount of space that was on Reddans inside??? He would have got pushed into touch by the Italians and people would complain why he didnt cut on the outside. He was screwed either way tbh
