full A1 vs provisonal A

Hows it goin fellas. Quick question :
    I'm 20, have a full A1 licence (used to ride a varadero 125) and provisional A.

I'm looking to get a bike again for the commute. The thing is it will involve motorway riding and am wondering if I should ride on my provisional A so I could ride maybe a honda bros 400 or something with a better top speed than a 125.

Or should I just get another 125 and take advantage of the cheaper (im guessing it would def be cheaper) insurance on the full A1 (are there any 125s with decent topspeed???) or get something like the bros and would there be a major price difference between insurance quotes?

    What are your thoughts
    thanks.

Technically, you wont be allowed on the motorway on anything >125cc due to the no provisional drivers rule. And while its pretty much ignored, in my experience (number of L-plate cars)), you could still get in trouble for it.

The varadero is probably the best motorway 125 imo. You'll get better top speed out of a 2 stroke (nsr, tdr, rs etc), but reliability may suffer, and maintenence costs (motorway miles) may build up.

Insurance on anything greater then the 125 may be huge... most definately be a major price difference alright, hopefully though you'll have some NCB built up which will definitely help.

thanks. some good info there. im thinking the 125 is probably the way to go. ill probably get a decent quote having the full A1 and motorway traffic probably isnt going 120km/h at commute times anyway...
varaderos tend to be expensive though...
anyone else ride another 125 on the motorway?

If you're determined to ride 100% legal on the motorway then it must be a 125 or less I'm afraid. If it was me I'd take my chances along with all the L cagers and ride something bigger, but having applied immediately for the test in Raheny (you'll get a date in 2 months) and passing it with a pretest beforehand. The test pass rate is very high. My pretest instructor put it at 80%+.

The A1 is a balls of a thing.
