I was buying cables for my computer to extend them for the mod im doing..

The one I bought was an 4pin to 8pin motherboard connection, im pretty sure this will work as on my PSU theres a 4 Pin connection along with an 8pin.

My question is I may have to extend the 24pin power cable aswell now what I bought was two cables 4 - 8 pin and it came with a 20 - 24 pin. If needs be can I use the 20 - 24 pin cable to extend it?

Like having the 24 pin connect to the 20 pin, then have the 24 pin end connect to the mobo?

    It sounds unlikely?

Should be fine. The extra 4 pins are for providing juice to the motherboard and aren't usually required for operation. On the other hand, your motherboard may complain. In a worst case scenario your board just wont boot or will be unstable.
