Is it just Sky or Sky Multiroom?

If just Sky, they're not too strict. Opposite applies for Multiroom.

In that case, you're going to need to keep your phoneline, and have it connected to both boxes.

I've had plenty of problem's with the multiroom.

The extra phone line, eircom broadband and a cordless handset have meant that issue's arose. I sorted all without putting Sky first.

So if Sky cannot see either box, then let then come to my home and sort it.

Broadband is more important to me than Sky checking if my boxes are where I say there are ( I believe that's the primary reason they want the phone connection for, the other reason is for texting and live options).

Not Sky's responsibility. Instead they'll just charge you the 2 full subscriptions!

I had the same setup a while back and they are quite strict on it. Having unplugged the line from one of the boxes a couple of times I got letters out advising that if the phone line was not connected to both boxes then i would have to pay for the full cost of the boxes.

Conflict issues with broadband and the phone line in Sky boxes are usually to do with the lack of broadband filters. You need filters between the phone line and the sky box just as you do between the phone line and a phone (corded or cordless) or you will have interference.

Why would Sky call out to your home and fix it? You agreed to the contract.

Does anyone know if you can get Sky+ without a phone line-none of the sky advisors seem to know the definitive answer when I ring them.

We just bought our house last year & the builder put in the wrong cabling for the phone so until they fix it, Eircom cannot connect us.

We would really like to get Sky+, (&multiroom too which won't happen until phone line is sorted)

Yes you can get Sky + Standalone without a phoneline you simply pay a little more for the installation. Currently a Sky+ box costs €149 and installation is €45 and without a phoneline you pay a further €37.50 once off for manual activation of the card.
