The north and south city bus tours both of which leave from Place catalunya, one beside el corte ingles and the other at the opposite side of the square at Habitat.....

They cover all the main attractions. I would go see:
    1. Sagrada Familia (dont climb it though)
    2. Parc Guell
    3. Olympic Port
    4. Passeig de Gracia (for shopping too)
    5. Las Ramblas - at the port end on the left go into the little bar beside the wax museum - el besc des fades - its really cool.
    6. City cathedral
    7. Placa Reial - restaurant there Quinze Nits is excellent and good value
    8. La Boqueria on las ramblas - fruit market
    9. Santa Maria del Mar in El Born - good for nightlife and also there are plenty of shops in the adjacent Gothic Quarter

Just wander around Calle Mallorca, Valencia etc. There are beautiful places to eat and see just wandering.

    Enjoy

hey, a group of us in our early 20's went last summer, top spot. i second Sagrada Familia (15 min on the tube from top of Las Ramblas) and the market.

Booze is cheap but drinking out isn't as cheap. Pints were €3 and cocktails were €5 or €6, Stock up in the grog shop.

Didn't go for the shopping but just on looking around it seemed very expensive.. Some shops were worse than Ireland for clothes.

That bar SarahSassy mentioned is the coolest bar ever..
It's like going down the rabbit hole with Alice in Wonderland.

Thanks all, also one last question, we're arriving in Girona at 9.15 and the last train leaves Girona at 9.40, accepting we get in on time, how far is the train station from the airport? Was also told to go to the sex museum? Girlfriends friend so that could be interesting.....

    Thanks again gonna love this

Sounds a bit tight to get that last train. The train station is on the outskirts of Girona city while the airport is actually miles away. There are regular buses leaving for Barcelona city right outside the arrivals terminal at Girona airport. That would probably be your best bet, and stop you stressing if the plane is a bit late or whatever.

Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Casa Mila, Miro gallery.

Just walk around the streets and look at the Gaudi architecture. Barrio gothic, las ramblas.

Get yourself a street map and pick an area a day. If you want to get out of city for the day go to Figueres by train and see Dali's house.

Barcelona isn't pricey at all. It's only the tourist areas, ie. around La Rambla and the main tourist attractions, that are so pricey. If you're willing to walk 5 minutes away from there, you'll find it quite cheap. Op, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant: http://www.ladolcaherminia.com/. Brought my parents there last weekend and they absolutely loved it. Food was very reasonably priced (veal steak for under €10) and was absolutely gorgeous. House wine is very drinkable aswell and costs about €2.50 for a half litre!

If you're looking for a place just off La Rambla, try a restaurant called La Fonda. It's listed here along with a few other places.

Drinks wise, it's a helluva lot cheaper than Dublin. The reason why pints were so expensive is because beer doesn't normally come in pints in Barcelona. The only places that you do get them are along La Rambla and in the Irish bars, both overly expensive. Try drinking Estrella or Voll Damm instead, which you'll get in most local bars for under €2 a bottle/330ml glass. With the amount of places that have Happy Hours, cocktails are really cheap aswell. This place does mojitos for €3.50 after 11 and you'll find loads more in and around the barrio gótico.

Tbh, Snack 55 deserves a paragraph of its own. It's slightly off the beaten track and is packed with locals at the weekend or whenever Barça are playing but you really can't go wrong with cubalitros for €4. Yep, that's a litre of any spirit with a mixer for €4 (€7.50 if you want the good brands).

Apart from that, just enjoy yourselves and have a wander around Barcelona. Take a stroll around Parc Guell, Montjuic and Parc de la Ciutadella, have a look at the Sagrada Familia (Climb it if you want but the view from the top of the hill in Parc Guell is just as good and it's free!) and walk along the beach down by Barceloneta. La Boqueria is definitely worth a visit aswell. Oh yeah, and avoid Plaça Reial like the plague!

yep, a quick look at any website or main tourist reference will give you an idea fo the biggies. if any of you ladies are into football, there's an excellent tour of the Nou Camp stadium - you pay about 9euro and can spend all day wandering around, including media rooms, away dressing room, post match interview set etc.
Also re going out at night in Barcelona, best bet are bars rather than clubs and be aware that it's not unusual to rock up to a restaurant really late & finish your tiramisu at midnight!

My favourite city. Most things mentioned so far but if you're going for shopping, note that the vast vast majority of shops don't open on Sunday
