Amazing RME Digiface performance

35 audio tracks, 7 EXS24, lots of plugins (including many CPU hungry channel strip pros).
All at 32 buffer and small process buffer range with no playback problems whatsoever.
I can record 20 tracks simultaneously at 32 buffer too (haven't tried more than 20).
I decided to see how far I could push the PCI express digiface, and it turns out Logic cannot push anywhere near the limits of the RME as far as buffer is concerned.
For a mix like this, the fireface800 (which I previously used) would have to be at 256 buffer.
I know buffer size is largely irrelevant at mixing, but suppose the singer decides he wants to do another bv at this stage.
I am extremely happy with the digiface and would strongly recommend it. I was planning on maybe getting apogee symphony in the future, but I don't think it would be any better as far as latency and stability is concerned.

As far as I recall the Apogee Symphony has about 1.6ms latency at 96khz , roughly the same as moving away from something .6 of a metre if my sums are right- so effectively instantaneous. Up to 192 chans.

RME is top kit.
Anybody using the creamware stuff?

But you use Apogee don't you StudioRat?

I know, but I've had a bit of a play with some of the RME stuff. The 8 channel pre-amps, one of their A2Ds. Most of the gear has all the right features and seems like pretty serious kit. I mean look at this yoke here
