Getting refunded via PayPal

    Hey people,

I recently bought something off eBay and I received it yesterday. Wasn't working, so I contacted the seller. They are happy to refund or exchange it. I paid via PayPal and was wondering if I get a refund does that money go into my PayPal account or does it just come off the credit card bill?

    Thanks.

It'll go back onto your CC as far as I know.

Yep, it goes straight back to the card. If there's a currency change involved, you may not get exactly what you paid either. Exchanges rates being what they are.

Yeah, I paid in GBP but that's okay.

    Thanks guys. :D

    Sorry for bumping the thread.

The seller is saying that they only refund if they can't exchange the product I ordered, but that they can exchange it. The item I bought I need before Friday so I just bought a more expensive one in town. Is there any way that I can get a refund? Would a PayPal dispute be any use?

    Thanks.

You'll need to send it back in order to get a refund or exchange. Since you needed this immediately, and have now purchased elsewhere, an exchange is no good to you. Start a Paypal dispute and state you will send back the broken item and are looking for a refund since it's no good to you now. If the seller doesn't respond, or doesn't respond favorably, then escalate the dispute to a claim.

I did email the seller (not via PayPal) and they said no to a refund. I really don't know much about this sort of thing, but would the dispute be more likely to go in my favour or his? Also, could I end up with negative feedback?

It would probably go in your favour but you will have to return the item to the seller using a means that proves delivery

You could end up with negative feedback, but I think it's more likely that the seller will simply refund (on return of the broken item) and nothing more will come of it.
