Problem With PC

I was wondering if anyone knew what could be wrong with my coputer. Firstly, let me tell you what make/mdel it is: Dell Dimension 4700.

The computer was working grand up until yesterday. When I turned it on this morning the power light stays orange, doesn't go green and the fan inside the computer goes at full blast. Nothing comes up on the monitor either.
It did this once yesterday and I just restarted it and thankfully it booted up properly but today it won't boot up at all.

Please tell me there is an easy fix as there is quite a bit of stuff I haven't backed up yet. :(

    I'd really appreciate any help.

    Any beeps at all ?
Check the hard drive connection , also reseat RAM one stick at a time in case there's a faulty stick .
The absence of beeps would suggest mobo related .
If there are beeps count them and post back ...

go to dell.ie support ,search model 4700 ,problems troubleshooting.PLUG speakers into pc,count the beeps, is vga cable plugged into monitor and pc graphics card slot , real tight, maybe theres a loose connection sumwhere, are the memory dimms in all the way in the mobo slots, put a bootdisk like winxp cd into cdrom ,if it looks like its loading cdrom, then that points to a graphics problem.A loose connection on cdrom,hd,dvd,or loose memory chip stops the pc loading, or the grahics card may be loose, make sure its real tight into the mobo slot.
