Fabulous place! One of the best I've played around Dublin I think. I'm a high 'capper and enjoyed the place so I'd say even off the tips there'll be decent scores posted by team players.

IIRC the website said something about an inland links feel. Not a bit of it, it's pure parkland. Maybe a bit too american in style for some of the purists but suits my tastes.

Occurred to us yesterday, while playing Castleknock, just how many golf courses there are within that couple of square miles area. Castleknock, Luttrellstown, Westmanstown, Hermitage, Elm Green and probably one or two more that I don't know about.

I played Castleknock recently and was really impressed by the condition of the course for this time of year, and @ 50 yoyo's it was well worth it. Milltown what is the current condition of Lutrellstown, as its just next to castleknock, i'd expect it to be good. Also what is their current green fee for this time of the year, any specials.
    Cheers.

Hmm... didn't realise Westmanstown is so close by to me. Any opinions on it? Had a look on the webiste and it seems to be something of a Garda haven. Quite short going by teh card also.

Never said that I'll definitely be playing. But I will be on the panel so I'll get to play it either way

It's in the grounds of the Garda Social Club so make sure your motors taxed and insured before ye head off! :p

I've never actually played it but it's supposed to be nice and well maintained, if a little flat... that's the general feedback I've heard...

Flat and featureless, but in pretty good nick. Quite a short course, 4 or 5 iron off the first tee during the Summer leaving something like a 9-iron or less into the green. I'm not great on remembering many holes on courses after I've played them but generally expect to remember five or six. The first at Westmanstown is the only one I can remember I'm afraid.

yeah ive played westmanstown a good few times.

its a very nice course.water comes in to play on some holes but all in all its a good test for all levels.

front 9 mightnt be the longest but theres a stretch on the back 9 when the holes seem like 5 miles long! probably a combination of wind direction and tiredness setting in!

Lutrellstown can also be had for €50 at the moment. It was last year I played it, low season sometime 'cos it was €50 then too. Weather hadn't been anything like we've had lately but it was in immaculate condition from tee to flag. It's a similar sort of challenge to Castleknock but more mature so you'll be worrying about trees more than wind. If you enjoyed Castleknock and thought it was good value for 50 lids (as I did), I think you'll be even more impressed with Luttrellstown, provided it's holding up to the weather.
