got a lomo, been playing round with it, can't really develop myself, dont know how, so i wanna print them, or better, get them onto digital format, how best to go about this, scanning seems expensive and my own scanner wont cut it. Also whats the best film for lomo fisheye, i was using 200iso, think 400 was recommended, i was thinking 3200 b and w for concert/gig photography , but i also like the very saturated fuji colour film (i think). any advice appriciated.

I suppose it depends what you're going to do with it once its digimified. If you get a dev and scan at somewhere like gunns, you'll get fairly low res files that are good for straight printing up to almost a4 but if you touch them with photoshop it'll be ugly.

As for film and speed and saturation - it's a bum deal. the faster the film the less saturated it's going to be - that's why velvia 50 is yummy because it practically glows. Also (personal experience and not possibly complete final truth) slide film seems more saturated in general than print film, but that could be down to contrast more than anything else. I'm not sure what you get into when you start cross processing in terms of saturation, but i think it's tricky to find someone who'll do it for you these days anyway - although i'm sure someone in here talked about a place you can drop them in for xpro on a specific day of the week, before they change their chemcals or something.

Hmm, that wasn't hugely helpful... shouldn't post after the pub ;)

So this is why you've been asking me all week to be unbanned

3200 will still be quite slow through the lens on the fisheye at a gig, but by all means give it a go! Julie's covered a bit of what I'd say above.

Last time I got a roll of film dev'd and scanned, I think I paid 14 quid in Gunns... Files were 11 meg tiff's. That was about a year ago though... Oh, and they cross process slide film too, friday evenings, iirc.

    :p

As far as I remember, the Nikon model is rated pretty highly, but they are all quite pricy if you're just throwing the odd roll through. You can get flatbeds with neg frames too.Might be better for the long run.
