Seeing as someone asked about advance notice for meet ups, I think 3 months is a pretty good heads up

Couple of us on the comics forum were planning to go see Iron Man somewhere in Dublin when it opens on May 2nd - seeing as theres a few heads on here I know are also looking forward to it I thought I'd post here as well.

Be warned comic geeks are going.

Count on my presence, provisionally at least.

    Hey, I'm not a geek!

(Wait, did you link to that thread where I joked about making a costume? Never mind so, that'll have made people's minds up already :()

    ...

OK, so I lied and I am a geek. But I'm a very personable geek, damnit.

I'll only go if someone hires me a bodygaurd to protect me from the comic forum when I will (most likely) rip the film to shreds afterwards in the pub...

you are aware the comics forum are going to far more critical of the film then you? your just going to rate it as a film but we'll rate it as a film and on how close they got it to the comic and how many super nerdy in jokes they put in for fans of the comic.

Well according to the What superhero are you? quiz I apparently am Iron Man... so I better pop along.

The snack of choice for the outing shall be mandarins.

In costume? You and Fysh can have a throw down outside the cinema to see whose the real iron man.

Lol you bastard I was going to say that. :p

The film fan in me says yes to this, however the recovering comic geek says no. I'll let you know the verdict when one kills the other.

Count me in. It's been a long time since I've seen a film and had the opportunity to discuss it afterward.

I really must begin to post in the comic form more often, though that may mean I have to cut back on my comic reading.

Dont you people have real life amigos to go the cinema with you ?

I'm sorry, that was uncalled for. I'll go sit on the bold chair.

I think most of us do, but they're regular people who can't tell Silver Age Flash from Golden Age Flash. It's nice to see a film with people who can appreciate it.

I don't like any of my current amigos and wish to make new ones [plus one of the people who replied is my brother so its not like it's total strangers]

I'll most likely be up for it, but tis a long way away to be sure!

The film will never be as awesome as the cartoon series.

    Tony Stark,
    He makes you feel,
    He's the cool exec,
    With the heart of steel.

Bah worst lyrics ever, his name is Iron Man, not Steel Man. Deliberate false advertising!

Oh god, the cartoon was awful. Entertainingly awful, but still awful.

Speaking of cartoons, did anyone see the animated movie that was released last year? While in no way the best thing ever, it was decently animated and had a solid script, which is pretty much a two-for-two improvement over every other animated Iron Man project I've seen...

The 60s one was barely a cartoon. Mr. Benn had better animation.

I saw the animated movie as well... I wasn't mad about the character design... but I liked how it paced itself... it's about an hour before you get to see Iron Man.

They made a bit of a balls with the Mandarin though.

right thought I'd bring the thread back to the top to see what interest is like now that we are closer to the movie release.

May 2nd - cinema in dublin* - food meet up before, drinks/food after - comments, questions, suggestions?

*would prob be an 8/9ish showing so would need to book tickets so need to pick cinema and keep an eye out for when tickets go on sale. Or would people want an earlier or later showing?
