    Hi there

I am currently in the process of fundraising for a Defibrillator for our local GAA Club and Communittee - can anyone recommend a particular machine or company?
    Any help is appreciated!

You should contact Shelmeliers Club in Wexford. As far as I know they were the first club in the country to get 1.

You should contact your County Board to see have they a deal done with any supplier or training body. You don't really need to worry about Model because they are all have meet strict manufacturing requirements but the GAA opted to use a device called; Samaritan PAD. This does not mean you have to get one. A 10 year old could use one.

If you are in a big club with a lot of activity it would be worth get training on using the AED and then getting the training to become an Instructor to train other members. Contact http://www.irishheart.ie for more info.

Medtronic ( www.medtronic.com ) do a range of portable defibs, some of which can be used by people with very little or no training.
Stand back and zap type of thing.
Some of their kit is used by Dublin Fire brigade ambulance crews and AFAIK Croke Park itself.

They have office in Swords and manufacturing/research plant in Galway.

Not sure if they do deals with charities and non-profit sporting organisations but would not hurt asking.

I am not allowed discuss …
