I want to hide my SSID on my eircom wifi router so that I have a hidden network.
How does one go about doing this? I can't see any obvious options on the eircom wifi configuration page - see screenshot.

Do I just blank out the text box holding the SSID - i.e. delete "My Wi-Fi's SSID" in the example above?

in advanced options what is there? something like closed mode?

When checked (enabled), or in Closed Mode, it will be necessary to enter the SSID value into the client card configuration to permit access to the available network.

I dont have a eircom router, try to google name of your router's config online?

Yep, there's a closed mode option in advanced options.

You lost me slightly there. I presume you mean that I enter the SSID manually on my wifi enabled device. I'll test that and see how I get on. Thanks.

[Edit] Checking "Enable Closed System Mode" and setting up the network manually worked a treat. Thanks again :).

This won't hide your SSID from even simple tools like Kismet.

    Still beats the alternative.
