worth buying from america on ebay?

    hi...was thinking of buying a few things from the u.s....want an 8 track recorder which is 311 on thomann but 220 (incl ups postage) from u.s... heard a lot of customs / import tax / vat nitemares...just wondering if anyone bought anything of a similar size and how much (if any) extra they had to pay the post man or customs?

    There's a nice post in the Resources thread about customs. Expect to pay about 25% of the item cost with shipping.

    Its worth it for more expensive stuff and also the used market there has plenty of options all the time. You have to be careful with electronics though as they run at a different voltage level. This can mean using a transformer to run the stuff, which will cost you more money.
