    Heya

I working full time in an office, but for a bit extra cash I was thinking of working from home. I have found a job that Id be interested, (its doing admin work for different companies etc), but on the site it says that Id be self employed. The job is basicaly being a virtual assistant!!

Iv no idea what being self employed involves, or what taxes or charges there are. Or even how to register as being self employed. Can I have a full time job and work from home as well?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks:confused:

just out of curiousity, what's the site?

Yes, you'd have to register as self employed. Go to the Tax office and tell them you are registering as self-employed.
Don't do it too soon as it produces form filling headaches and reports to Revenue and all that sh*t. Only register as self employed when you begin to get an income. That's my take on it.

You still have to make returns to Revenue if you are self-employed - even if you have NO income.

    Heya

I saw it on irishjobs.ie. There's a link on the right of the site that will got you on it. It looked interesting. But you'd need looks of experience. Was looking at some of the other people who are currently on it and they've years of experience, in marketing, finance, research, IT. Id say it'd be pretty hard to get work out if it, with the amount of competition out there.

But you never know!! You set your own hours, and your own wages, and work from home.

So long as you don't have to pay for anything to work for them then go for it! :)

That's the best advice I can give tax wise...have you looked at the information booklet i'm handing out? there's a download link in the "Work from Home" thread
