Well tickets are now on sale for the film festival. Last year was actually the first time I ever attended and I enjoyed it a lot... there was certainly a nice vibe going amongst all the screenings.

A lot of the films I hadn't really heard of before, so I really just booked a lot of the following on what sound interesting:
    • Cassandra's Dream
    • Chacun Son Cinema
    • The Orphanage (El Orfanato)
    • The Cottage
    • I'm a Cyborg
    • Eden
    • And the Surprise Film (it was 300 last year)

I would have liked to have got There Will Be Blood, but it sold out very quickly it seems.

Anyone got any recommendations for other films I should catch?

Don't miss You, the Living if you can help it. I saw it a while back, it's great, I'd love to see it on the big screen but it overlaps with As I Was Moving Ahead Occassionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty.

The screening of Pandora's Box, with accompaniment by 3epkano (great band), should also be something to see.

Ah. In the Savoy as well. As much as I enjoyed Metropolis last year in the National Gallery, the seats were very uncomfortable and I had a big pain in my neck trying to see the screen.

Mongol and Lars and The Real Girl are two that I'm looking forward to. I've got a season ticket so I'll see as many films as I can cram in.

got tickets to the Surprise Film. Missed it last year. Always try to get to see the surprise films. Would have loved to have gotten tickets for There Will Be Blood but as has been said they sold out fairly instantly

Booked tickets to I'm a Cyborg (romantic robot musical - yes!), Lars and the Real Girl and The Orphanage. May book a couple more at some point too.

Tempted to see the surprise film, but you know as much chance of something ****ty as there is of something good.

Decent lineup overall though I must admit. Looking foward to it, as I only got to see the Fountain (and hence Sunshine) last year.

If Jonas Mekas does come along , he would be worth checking out.
An oppurtunity not to be missed even.

He is part of the Beat Movement in the fifties.

He was heavily involved with artists such as Andy Warhol, Nico, Allen Ginsberg, Yoko Ono, John Lennon, Salvador Dalí, and fellow Lithuanian George Maciunas.<WIKIPEDIA>

I've seen it several weeks ago and just loved it. It's quite slow paced movie with great photography and acting.
If you like these things in movies give "Tricks" a try.
