I am looking to get a bluray player, but the problem is that I have a lot of region 1 DVD's and some region 3's. I want to be able to play them on the new player so I don't have to have 2 machines. Is there any player on the market that will allow you to play any region of dvd. Do not currently care about playing region 1 bluray disks. Sorry if this has been asked and answered already just unable to find an answer using search

You won't find a multi-region DVD/Blu-Ray player on the market. They will all be region locked out of the box.
Your best bet would be to look at all the available players and find out which one is capable of playing multi-region DVDs using remote control hack, etc..

Is there any you would know of. I have tried searching but the only one that I can find out of is a discontinued model the samsung 1000. Or would I just be best off waiting until all the kinks are ironed out.

There was firmware upgrades easily available which made HD DVD players region free for sd dvds aswell so eoin2nc was correct!!!

I have heard that the Pioneer LX70A is multi region, a little bit pricey. Might just buy an ordinary one for the moment and keep my current dvd player for playing all my region ones. It has up scaling so not bad for now. Thanks for all the information.

There are a couple of companies offering "chipped" Blu Ray players that will do multi-region Blu Ray and DVD.
