just mooching around, looking for something nice, and came across this page .....

    I see the R8 is a DIESEL :D !!

btw, what was I looking for? well...........the SO has given the green light to 'buy a Gormless'.

IOW, get a 911 Tiptronic, before July.........993 or 996, but do it now, before it's too late........

    Damn, she's tough :D:D:)

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

if that R8 came with a 3stroke engine and i had to 'flintstone' it around town, i'd still buy one.
Is that the engine that won La Mans?

Read that the diesel R8 will have approx 1200ft lb of torque.

Should be handy for towing the trailer:D

The R8 TDI Concept(read ready for production in 2 years time) has 737 lb ft of torque.

Diesel and supercar are two words that should never be in the same sentence, part of the point of a supercar is the whiole political incorrectness of one and far more important they are supposed to be high revving screamers, 2 things a diesel can never be.

Just cause it has 500 bhp and 737 lb ft does not mean it is worthy of a supercar(on the other hand in something like a Q7 it would be the ideal engine for those who want a fast 4X4).

The engine that won Le Mans wouldn't run on road diesel!

IIRC the R10 ran on Shell's V-Power Diesel and according to this thread on pistonheads it has been available for road use for some time.
