    I remember the theme tune alright. Didnt the blonde girl end up dying in a nasty way or something? AFAIK, all middle class blonde girls from 80's TV shows died in nasty or depressing ways.

    Nope ... Tina Yothers is the girl from Family Ties ... she has had a modest career since Family Ties ended, but is apparently happily married and living a fulfilled life.

    I think the girl you are thinking of is Dana Plato who starred in Different Strokes, she has had a very difficult time battling personal problems, and sadly took her own life in the late 90's.
