I have to format a pc with TAS Books on it. I was wondering if i back up the tas directory would this be enough or is there more to it. After I format I install tas and copy back the tas directory with data?

It should be enough, but why not just use the built-in backup utility? In any event you should call Sage and ask them. Yes, they'll want a lot of money, but you'll need to call them when you reinstall anyway.

TAS is a messy program, my dad uses it, afaik you need to backup each record manually, just copying the directory will loose certain records I think, came accross this issiue a while back, all entries must be manually restored, if you do backup the directory and records are missing, you can run the backup utility and restore the records from the actual directory iirc
