Hi guys, just wondering has anybody bought a photobox canvas?

Was thinking of getting one for the other half for Valentines. Want to make sure the quality is good before i go forking out €80+

I'm thinking of making a photo montage of the last few years, so resolution of the original shouldn't be a problem. Will probably use the photomerge application in Photoshop, used it once before seems good enough the way you can drag and drop photos wherever and photoshop does all the cropping necessary (BTW I'm a big time novice when it comes to photoshop). I have CS2 but is it worth getting CS3?

On the subject of canvas's.. I have some photos (well most of my photos) posted on a site called DeviantArt and I got a message from a woman who wants a canvas print from me about 24 inches, only thing is the original size of the photo is about 1000 pixels by about 700 pixels, now thats just an estimate it could be bigger I'm just not on the computer with the original file.

Anyway does anyone know if it would come out alright and how much would it be to get one done??? Even better does anyone know where to get canvas's done with a reasonable price!!! I can't seem to find anywhere...

    Any help would be appreciated!!!

oh, oh - by my humble reckoning, a 1000 * 700 pixel image will give you a perfect 3.3 x 2.3 inch print - i guess thats not quite what you had hoped for. There is a rough guide - divide your length x height in pixels by a figure of 300 to give you the inch equivalent (i've also seen 360 used in this calculation) beyond that you get varying levels of distortion / pixelation. I think you have a problem unless you have an original image; i've seen a divisor of 200 being used (accepting that it will be poorer quality) but even at that, it would only give you a 5 x 3.5 inch print.

OP - Steve's (stcstc) canvas work comes highly recommended from posters that have used his services before. If you search the forums for 'canvas print' there are a couple of options - online and local bricks/mortar; the likes of 'updone' which are as cheap as they come and 9 times out of 10 will produce a good quality result (i've used them myself and found them fine), but they suck at customer service if you have a problem according to one poster who appears to have had a bad experience. If its something special for your 'nearest and dearest' you may be as well having a chat with Steve (stcstc) for something with a personal touch and see what he can offer.
