movie editing software

Hi, does anyone know some good movie editing software I could download??? Just downloaded a movie on .avi format and would like to be able to chop up scenes and maybe just put individual scenes on my iaudio for example...... or at least bookmark the scenes I want to get to fast. Want to watch particular dance scenes a few times without havin to search for them ya see.

for free you can get windows movie maker, or on mac, get iMovie.

or if you want some decent software on Windows you can buy Pinnacle.

if you are on Mac, iMovie came with it.

thanks big moe, but will windows movie maker work with movies I've downloaded on .avi format? if not will i is there another program you'd suggest that can convert avi movies to a format that windows movie maker or pinnacle can work with? Thanks again.

yeah they both should work with avi files
