Lights around campus...

Anyone know what the story is with all the spotlights around campus? Walking through this morning they seemed to be in lots of places around front and new square. I'm guessing it's part of Light Wave and the more general lighting festival in the city. Anyone seen them lit up?

Isn't there some tour of trinity thing kicking off next week for a bit?

I presumed they were for that, they weren't on last night when I was going home at about 8.30 anyway..

It certainly does. I love the bit along the cricket pitch where the light jumps from one tree to the next. Reminds me of that christmas lights video (though obviously without the music... or house.... or Christmas.) :(

most of them look cool, except the regular ones pointing at the old library. They just seem like a waste of energy.

True except you obviously missed the amazing silhouette it creates.

    Yup, pretty cool...

I can't help but think how cool would it be if they made some of the lights a permanent fixture... Not the flashy ones, but the ones in front square uplighting the trees maybe..

I noticed the trees ones too - must take a pic of them soon.

Any other particularly good ones? The old library is the one with the long room right?

I presumed it was something to do with the "Oh look at light! Isn't it cool!" exhibition that's going on down near the pearse street entrance?

The lights set up in the rose garden allow one to silhouette ones self up onto the museum building.

    It's lots of fun.

ya the lights are because of the new Science Gallery opened on Pearse St. If you look at the Campanile the logo is there

I like the idea, but i really hate all the added light pollution caused by uppointing lights.
