How to get free food at Superquinn

The following happened twice in Superquinn Blackrock, Dublin.

    Example:
    I bought a number of food items including;
3 Bread rolls (with a SPECIAL price for buying 3).
2 pasta with filling. (SPECIAL price for buying 2)

In neither case was the SPECIAL price applied at the till.
I complained and was given both items FREE!

I will try again in a few days.

It may or may not be relevant that I was using a hand held scanner.
I think that their specials are not properly maintained in their systems.

Mispriced items at Tesco = free also.

tesco have a "no quibbles" policy. superquinn are most likely the same. if you argue over the price of anything, they will give it to you for free

also, go to the reduced section in tesco. take some of the yellow stickers off. put them on some products in your shopping trolley. hey presto - half price food. dont do it with too much stuff in your trolley, cuz my friends got thrown out of tesco for doing that once. do it only with a few items so they don't get suspicious

tescos stopped that policy due to people in the uk getting free ps3s and xboxes. Now they refund twice the difference I think which is much less.

And peopel still wonder why everything is getting so expensive.
For every product stolen in a shop, they have to sell 5x the same item to get their los back.

Really, if at the check out i get change back for €50 while i gave a 20 note, you will not see me tellign them they made a mistake.
But changing labels and al lthat is for me just simple theft, for which honest people pay the price.

I'd give that back, i'd feel guilty otherwise.

They made £2,200,000,000 in PROFIT last year.

So not telling them they made a mistake is honest? I dont see the difference between the two? Sorry for going OT

sorry this has gone way too far. i was just saying that some people have gotten away with putting discount prices on normal stuff in tesco. im not saying its legal. im not saying do it. I in no way advise anyone to do it. i was just enlightening everyone to instances where food has been free or nearly free.

stealing comes in many forms, and is illegal in all forms. tesco may be a pack of ****holes, but even still they are a company. i wouldnt want people doing it to me if i owned a shop. still...students will be students...

Are you sure? I was under the impression that Tesco don't release the amount of profit they make.

    And stealing is stealing.

Tesco offer free goods if there is an overprice.... but are happy to charge you if you don't notice....How many don't notice?? Majority i would guess!

Others change lables to reduce the price and hope Tesco don't notice....and if they do they can have the goods back or ask for full price...

Seems like an interesting game to me...Somehow I'm guessing that with tesco's profits they might be winning the game

Everyones gotta eat and stealing for food doesn't strike me as immoral. I'm lucky I don't need to

This isn't a Superquinn policy. The staff member probably just didn't give a s**t or was a member of the old guard that were trained under Quinn. The current management count every penny and would be sick if they knew about this.

Since when does complaining represent a bargain?!
