    Hi,

Just wondering if there are some rules out there as to how many days you can actually work.
For e.g. is it legal to have employees work 12 days in a row. Say you do your normal week (Monday to Friday) then the company want you to work the weekend and want you straight back to work on the Monday?

    Thanks.

By law you are entitled to a full consecutive 24 hours for every seven days (in a row) check this

XJR got there before me :)

Stick up for yourself if they try and push you to work more than that, company policy matters not if it's actually against the law.

back in the day I worked for a hotel in accomodation, if you wanted 2 consecutive days off you had to work 10 days straight, it was "policy", by the time you got to your days off you just slept straight through them.

IMO if this is only happening the odd time, I would forget about the legality of it and just go with it.

Employers really appreciate flexible workers, and generally things like working the weekend are remembered and rewarded.

Also, your work contract probably says something along the lines of you need to be available for overtime every now and then...

    Cheers lads,

Thanks very much for the replies and the info.

@XJR, that link says the employee is entitled to 24 hours after 7 days work. Wonder is this law and have to be enforced or at the company's discretion?

I worked 51 days in a row and only had one day off during that time a sunday i think it was nothing was ever said.

A previous employer I was doing the same and they stopped me on H & S reasons.... I found out later it was it was costing them too much money
