Banker dead after teen movie drinking stunt

A young banker has died of alcohol poisoning after taking part in a drinking competition inspired by a teen movie.

David Reid, a 22-year-old from Manchester in the UK, consumed large amounts of tequila, gin and whisky in just 45 minutes with a mate during a drink-off known as "last man standing" the Manchester Evening News website reports.

The pair had earlier been drinking margaritas and beer, recreating a scene from hit film American Pie 5: the Naked Mile in which two young men drink until one drops.

Reid was carried to bed following the session and was found dead just hours later.

An inquest into his death heard that young bank worker had died after his brain stopped working from alcohol poisoning, with toxicology checks showing his blood levels were up to seven times the legal driving limit in Britain.

"He had drunk a vast amount of alcohol and what can be all right so many times, the next occasion can end in tragedy," deputy coroner Leonard Gorodkin said during the inquest.

Reid's father Phillip said youngsters need to learn from his son's tragic death.

"Every shot David took was like another bullet," he told the Evening News. "All the hard work he put in, through school, sixth form and university, was gone in an instant."

    Out like a sucka.
I must admit that if I had taken a large amount of spirit in during the course of 45 minutes, say anything over a half bottle of 40% alcohol, I would be getting very very very sick very quickly. Im one of them longevity drinkers. I can just stay there for hours drinkin and drinkin until the bottles in my wake slowly take on epic proportions. Its always drinking games that **** me up, cos I like to keep that pleasant balance between ****ered and dead.
    Unless I am winning.
