Laptop power profiles missing and no internet after standby

Im running XP sp2 and when i am running on battery all my power profiles are missing apart from "home/office desk" and "portable/laptop"

The problem here is that i normally used the "always on" option as it runs the processor at full speed (3.06MHz) for my cad needs, but now thats gone when i am on battery power and the laptop only runs at 1599MHz until i plug the mains power back in.

How do i get back the "always on" option?

Also, if i place my laptop on standby and wake it up, my internet BB wont connect to the internet again until i restart the laptop ( it shows "server not found" in IE and firefox )

    How do i sort this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

How long ago did the problem start, try doing a system restore to a date before you had this problem, It this does not work I know with my own laptop (toshiba) it has a power saving program, get you drivers and utilities disk and look for your power program and reinstall this.
